Renter - What's not covered

At Fat Llama, we’ve got your back. We understand that accidents can happen, and that’s why you're covered for accidental damage and accidental loss while using the item(s) during your rental period. Rent with confidence, knowing that you won’t be left out of pocket if something goes wrong unexpectedly.

What’s Not Covered?

While we’ve got you covered in most cases, the guarantee does not apply if damage or loss occurs due to negligence. Here are some examples:

1. Forgetfulness

Forgetting to return the item.
Forgetting where you left it.
Forgetting parts of a rental package.

2. Carelessness

Leaving the item(s) unattended and/or unobserved at any time.
Leaving the item(s) in public places, transport, vehicles or in a park.
Leaving the item(s) in unsafe inappropriate weather and temperature environments (e.g., rain, snow, frost, freezing, damp, heat conditions) that the item is not rated for
Using non-waterproof items near or around an open body of water.

3. Improper Use

Use should be restricted to the specified or reasonable parameters for the item. Renters should consult Owners if they are unsure about proper use.
Examples include but are not limited to:
Overloading or applying too much force or to little weight to an item.
Using incorrect parts or mismatching electrical specifications.
Using the item in ways it was not designed or intended for and is likely to cause damage.
Dropping a drone due to lack of experience in piloting.

4. Unauthorized Use

Using a camera underwater when it’s not waterproof.
Modifying or tampering with a rented item, causing damage.
Overloading a generator beyond its recommended capacity, leading to failure.

5. Late Returns

Keeping an item beyond the agreed rental period and reporting it lost after several days.
Returning an item damaged after an extended delay.

6. Unverified Accounts

Only verified renters are covered. To ensure eligibility:
Complete identity verification through Fat Llama before renting.
Provide accurate and up-to-date account details.

7. Lack of Skill or Qualifications

If an item requires special skills, training, or a license to operate, renters must meet these requirements before use.

If You Have Your Own Insurance

If you already have personal insurance, we’ll ask you to claim through that first. If the claim is denied, you’ll need to provide us with written evidence from your insurer before proceeding with Fat Llama’s coverage.
